Rouse Hill Radiology

Rouse Hill Radiology provides a complete network of imaging services and specialist care.

General X-Ray

X-Rays are one of the simplest forms of medical imaging that you might need. They use a form of radiation to penetrate through the body to create two-dimensional images of the body’s bones and soft tissues and assist in diagnosing conditions or diseases.

Ahead of an X-Ray, please make sure you bring your referral letter and Medicare card (if you have one). The more information you can bring to the appointment, the better, so try and collate any other previous medical images or reports that relate to your current condition.

Please let us know if you’re pregnant or think you could be pregnant prior to the examination

X-rays don’t require any preparation, except perhaps changing into a gown- your radiographer will let you know when you arrive.

Your radiographer carrying out the procedure will explain each step to you. Firstly, they will ask you to settle in a position that offers the best possible view of the area requiring examination. Staying still during the procedure is critical to ensure a clear image. The images are then taken, and the radiographer will check them and decide whether there is a need for additional images.

Usually, the whole process takes less than ten minutes from start to finish. If you are having several areas imaged, it will take longer.

Usually, your results will be available on the day. Our radiologist will assess the images and once the report is approved by them it will be ready for your referring practitioner.
